How to write notes
  • Notes separated by spaces: C D E F G A B or in Latin letters C D E F G A B.
  • Upper octave — the number 2: C2 D2 E2 (or C2, C').
  • Sharp — #, flat — b: F#, Bb.
  • Longer — dashes: G- = 2 beats, G--- = 4 beats.
  • Shorter — a slash: A/ = half a beat. With a dot — B. = one and a half beats.
  • Rest — _ (it can be lengthened too: _-).

❓ How to play: when to start and stop a note
  • Start the note when the bottom edge of the colored bar reaches the dotted line.
  • Hold the note while the bar crosses the line, and stop when its top edge has passed the line. A long bar means a long note.
  • 🐢 Study: the notes wait for you at the line — no rush, just play it right.
  • 🎤 Concert: the notes don’t wait. The light band around the line is the hit zone: you can start a little early and finish a little late inside it. Its width depends on strictness: 🐣 Beginner is wide, 🙂 Normal is medium, 🎯 Strict is narrow.
  • A note counts as caught if you held it for at least 60% of its length. Stars are for overall accuracy: ⭐⭐ from 60% — melody learned, ⭐⭐⭐ from 85%.
  • When you play correctly, the birdie turns into a 🐥 and the track glows green.

A game controlled by your recorder

This is a music game for kids who are learning to play the recorder. Instead of buttons there is real sound: the site listens to the recorder through the microphone and understands which note is sounding. The bird at the bottom of the screen flies to that note's track and catches the falling notes.

The melodies go from simple to difficult: from the practice “Little Ladder” on three notes through folk songs (“In the Field Stood a Birch Tree”, “Kalinka”, “Ah, You Porch”) to classics — Oginski's Polonaise, “Dance of the Little Swans”, Bach and Mozart's “Turkish Rondo”. If you haven't learned some note yet, take a look at the lessons.
